ROSEBURG, OREGON · 2026

A future we can
build together.

I’m David Bolhuis, and I’m running for Mayor of Roseburg. I believe in the potential of our people, the strength of our community, and what we can accomplish together.

BUILDING ON WHAT MAKES ROSEBURG SPECIAL

Strong local businesses. New opportunities. A community where everyone has the chance to thrive.

MEET DAVID

Oregon raised.
Roseburg by choice.

A place to put down roots.
A community to help grow.

When my wife and I visited Roseburg, we found more than a beautiful place. We found a community we wanted to call home.

I was born and raised in Beaverton and have lived in different parts of Oregon. While living in Central Oregon and beginning our careers, my wife and I started looking for a place to settle down and raise a family.

Roseburg’s beauty and the kindness of the people we met made that decision easy.

I’ve built my career in real estate, with experience appraising residential properties, working as a licensed broker, and rehabilitating old homes. Now, I’m running for mayor because I believe we can build on the strong foundations already here.

SIX PRIORITIES FOR ROSEBURG

Opportunity.
For our whole community.

From a coordinated response to homelessness to more housing and jobs, my priorities share one goal: helping Roseburg’s residents and families thrive.

01

Address homelessness
head-on

I want a coordinated approach that brings together the existing nonprofit care network, city services, law enforcement, local business owners, and residents.

  • Identify a lot that works for both the community and people experiencing homelessness.
  • Provide services and opportunities that help people reintegrate into the community and eventually support themselves.
  • Establish and maintain a reasonable timeline, with greater transparency and communication from the city.
02

Support our
local businesses

I want our existing businesses to have a safe, clean environment and the support they need to succeed.

  • Repair sidewalks and building facades, and address parking concerns.
  • Actively promote our downtown district.
  • Support local businesses through grants and/or tax incentives.
03

Attract more
employment opportunities

Roseburg needs more and varied employment opportunities for our residents. I want to attract new employers through the use of the Roberts Creek Economic Zone and the promotion of the OR 138E Corridor plan.

04

Make room for
more housing

I want to refine the city’s planning documents to make it easier to develop vacant infill lots—unused lots within existing neighborhoods.

My goal is to align the development code with Oregon’s “Middle Housing” initiative, helping facilitate development and expand housing opportunities for our residents.

05

Care for the beauty
of our city

I want to beautify Roseburg, especially our downtown historic district, through grant funding and partnerships with Envision Roseburg, UVA, and other local networks.

06

Help our
families thrive

Roseburg’s future rests on its families. Every priority I’ve established is intended to help residents access the services, opportunities, and community connections they need to thrive in our city.

“Ultimately, my aim is to work toward a future where everyone has an opportunity to thrive and to be proud of their city.”
